Join the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi (JCCH) and Konko Mission of Wahiawa for this year-end custom as we prepare to ring in the Year of the Dragon!

Mochi (rice cake made from glutinous mochi rice) is one of the most important traditional foods for the Japanese New Year representing strength, longevity, and purity. Registered participants at our upcoming workshop will learn hands-on mochi pounding and how to fashion their own mochi. They will get to take home komochi (plain) and mochi with azuki (red bean paste). Viewing of the demonstration will be open to the public. Advance registration is required for hands-on participation.
