Keiro no Hi, a Japanese public holiday honoring senior citizens, falls on the third Monday of September each year. To commemorate this special day, we are hosting interactive kūpuna workshops. Registration is required. Spaces are limited. Light refreshments will be available.

- Workshop 1: Spot & Avoid Fraud - Curt Hasegawa (AARP) is a retired Investigator with the State of Hawaiʻi. His 30-year career included investigations ranging from Consumer Protection, to Child Support Enforcement, to Securities Fraud. His last 22 years with the Securities Commissioner's Office were focused on both State-level civil cases, as well as joint criminal cases with the FBI, IRS, Honolulu Police Department-Financial Crimes Division, and the Department of the Attorney General. His last 10 years also included providing public outreach to local communities and organizations, where he gave talks on Fraud Prevention. He has been a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) since 2001 and currently maintains his CFE designation as a retired investigator.

- Workshop 2: Interactive Brain Health Workshop - Join the Hawaiʻi Dementia Initiative, in partnership with the UH Center on Aging and the Executive Office on Aging, for an Interactive Brain Health Workshop. Our lifestyles can impact our brain health and our risk for developing dementia. This workshop will feature tips for good cognitive health with a local Japanese flair. Boosting our brain health can make us sharper today and shape our future for a healthier tomorrow. Let's honor our heritage, live well, and have fun!

- Workshop 3: Yoga & Tai Chi for Kūpuna - Cat Sawai (Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi) is a strong believer in the power of mind - body communication to create a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. With over 15 years of brain education training, she has discovered her true passion and love of guiding people to create their best beautiful life. Develop your strength, mobility, and balance while brightening your mood with a Body & Brain Yoga & Tai Chi Class. This class will utilize Qigong principles and techniques to exercise the body and calm the mind. Learn various forms and movements to build your strength, release tension, and melt away stress from your daily life. NOTE: There will be mats covering the dōjō floor. Chairs will also be available for use. Please bring the following items: yoga mat (optional), water bottle, and a towel.
- Workshop 4: Tech Support - Tech Savvy Teens is part of an afterschool workforce development program created and run by Kaulike Academy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Please bring your device(s) and questions for on-the-spot troubleshooting and connect with knowledgeable teens ready to share their skills! Please note, this session is one hour long. If you'd like additional support, Tech Savvy Teens will have a table outside in the foyer.
