Keiro no Hi 敬老の日 (Respect for the Aged Day) is a Japanese public holiday celebrated annually in September. It is a time to recognize and honor kūpuna for their wisdom, experience, and contributions to society. Here in Hawaiʻi, the JCCH will honor this tradition with a half-day of free interactive workshops for kūpuna ages 60 and older. Registration is required. Spaces are limited. Light refreshments will be available.

- Workshop 1: Plan Ahead: Explore Care Options Before a Crisis Happens with Nicole Coglietta from CareSift - Nicole Malia Coglietta, CEO & Co-Founder of Caresift earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work Degree at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Her company, CareSift is a Hawaiʻi-based long-term care navigation service which was started in 2015. Since its founding, CareSift has helped hundreds of families navigate the complexities of long-term senior care. In her free time, Nicole enjoys the outdoors and all water spots with her two children and her husband.

- Workshop 2: Brain Health Bento: Bite-Sized Tips for a Sharper Mind with the Hawaiʻi Dementia Initiative, in partnership with the UH Center on Aging and the Executive Office on Aging - Join the Hawaiʻi Dementia Initiative for an Interactive Brain Health Workshop. Our lifestyles can impact our brain health and our risk for developing dementia. This workshop will feature tips for good cognitive health with a local Japanese flair. Boosting our brain health can make us sharper today and shape our future for a healthier tomorrow. Let's honor our heritage, live well, and have fun.
- Workshop 3: The "Ki" to Health and Happiness. Dive into your world of energy through mindful movements with Cat Sawai from Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi - Dive into your world of energy through mindful movements that are fun and easy to do. Health and happiness are not far away. Use natural elements to build strength and power in both mind and body, and align your energy to live your best life. *There will be mats covering the dōjō floor. Chairs will also be available for use.

- Workshop 4: Dementia, 10 Warning Signs and Preventative Measures with Dr. Gina Fujikami from Queen's Medical Center, in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association - Is misplacing my keys normal aging? Learn about brain changes as we age. What is dementia, and what are 10 warning signs of dementia, and are there ways to prevent it?
- Workshop 5: Kupuna Aikido Fall Prevention and Safety with Kupuna Aikido Hawaii - Learn practical techniques to help prevent falls and discover simple, effective ways to protect yourself and minimize injury, should a fall occur.
