Application Deadline Extended for Fall 2026
The JCCH Scholarship Program is pleased to offer two scholarship opportunities for the 2026-2027 academic year. Please select the scholarship you would like to apply for and complete the application form below.
Mahalo to the Sekiya of Fukuoka/Hawaiʻi Endowment Fund and Nancy Hiraoka for their support of youth education. Applications are due by Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:59 PM HST.
Program Information and Qualifications
Sekiya Scholarship
- Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
- Open to undergraduate junior and senior students enrolled at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and West Oʻahu
- Major or minor in Japanese, Asian Studies, or American Studies with a focus on Japan/Japanese Americans
- Provide academic information, along with a personal cover letter
- Participate in a community service event with the JCCH
This scholarship will award $2,500 each year.
Nakamoto-Hiraoka Ethnic Studies Scholarship
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Open to students in the UH system (all 10 campuses)
- Ethnic Studies as a major/double major/minor, Major in American Studies with a focus on Japanese Americans
- Provide academic information, along with a personal cover letter and resume
- Participate in a community service event with the JCCH (5-hour minimum)
One scholarship of $4,000 will be awarded to a qualifying junior, and one scholarship of $5,000 will be awarded to a qualifying senior per year.
